Tiff’s Tip #2

Lets be real, for a lot of people, money is tight, and with all the job layoffs, many families are going hungry, WHILE SOMEONE BUILDS A BALLROOM! Now I may not know how to be a President, but SIR, YOU’RE DOING IT WRONG!!! So, if you can’t afford to travel right now, read about my past travels to help you plan a great future trip! And read a new tip every month!

When you do travel, here are some quick tips on how to NOT break the bank!

What do you spend THE MOST money on when traveling? FOOD! When it comes to travel, we are all secret foodies! You want to taste a destination!!! You’re are in luck, you can have your cake and eat it too! No matter your diet needs, here’s how to save money on food while traveling!!

We grew up with the food pyramid being a guide to eating healthy balanced meals. Typically, meals consisting of a meat, a veggie and a starch. You may still eat this way, which is totally okay. Everybody is different, eat what works for you and makes you happy!

But, with health, science and technology we learn more than just soul-searching!

A family member of mine has gone vegan for health reasons. This made me start eating more plant-based foods, and I too saw improvements in my gut health. Now I try to eat more plant-based foods, but I still will eat meat, just not as often. Who doesn’t crave a juicy cheeseburger every now and then!?

It can be a challenge finding vegetarian/vegan options! In Europe, it can be hard to find just a salad as your meal! My top 5 destinations (so far) for vegetarian/vegan options at restaurants are:

New York City, USA

Peru

south Africa

France

Wyoming, USA

To save some cash, cook yourself! Bring a cooler bag and shop like a local! No where to cook? If you get a complimentary breakfast, at the hotel in Iceland, we got a basket of fresh food and fresh bakery bread, everyday we’d make sandwiches to eat! grab some extra or buy something at the market and eat a picnic later!!! I especially love try a country’s grown fruit. If you have access to a kitchen, cook your food, only eat out occasionally!
